My LeanCor Story: Brad Frye, Operations Manager

Brad_F.jpgIn the fall of 2007, LeanCor found my resume on career builder.com.  I had never heard of the relatively new company. However, due to the fact that they were interested in me and not my ability to make cold calls while managing transportation, I decided to go for an interview. I arrived to find what resembled a converted doctor’s office that housed roughly 15 employees, large banners hanging from the walls and white boards galore. 

I ended up taking a chance on this small company by accepting an entry level position on the transportation management team.  Two short years later it seemed I blinked and we had more than doubled in size, moved to a beautiful, state of the art office space and were growing by the day. 

During a town hall meeting in the early spring of 2009, our CEO - Robert Martichenko - addressed the company and mentioned that LeanCor was in the process of managing a warehouse project for Whirlpool Corporation. Something inside told me to speak up and ask about supporting this new project.  All it took was a 10-minute conversation with Robert and before I knew it, I was driving an 18 ft U-Haul truck with my father to North Liberty, Iowa.

I was 23 years old with very little management experience. 

For the next three years I learned how to improve processes, form and manage teams, and most importantly lead people.

Today, LeanCor is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and has over 300 employees. Since I started, I have been given the opportunity for over 100 hours of external lean and professional training. Having been with LeanCor for eight years, I am now an operations manager responsible for over 100 team members at one of our facilities. I took a leap of faith and stepped outside my comfort zone when I relocated to Iowa. This personal choice enabled me to develop personally and professionally, and brought me where I am today.  

Not only did LeanCor provide opportunities to grow, but they have given me the opportunity to turn a job into a career.
